Overview

Thermocouple protection tubes shield sensing elements from oxidation, corrosion, erosion and flow turbulence, enabling accurate readings and longer service intervals. Zirsec offers pressureless sintered SiC (SSiC)for highest purity and gas-tight integrity, reaction-bonded SiC (RBSiC/SiSiC) for cost-effective strength and conductivity, and recrystallized SiC (ReSiC) for ultra-high-temperature, lightweight long tubes.

  • Temperature capability: up to ~1600 °C in air; higher in inert/reducing atmospheres (grade-dependent)

1) Which grade should I choose: SSiC, RBSiC or ReSiC?

SSiC for gas-tight, high-purity and 1600 °C air service; RBSiC for robust, cost-effective sheaths and good conductivity; ReSiC for very high-temp and long, lightweight tubes. We’ll match grade to your atmosphere and duty cycle.

Typical: up to ~1600 °C in air for SSiC/ReSiC; RBSiC commonly 1380–1650 °C depending on grade. In inert/reducing atmospheres, SSiC/ReSiC may reach higher limits. Confirm for your process gas and load.
Yes. Dense SSiC can achieve leak-tight integrity suitable for clean processes and accurate TC readings. RBSiC is low-porosity but not fully gas-tight; ReSiC is porous.
Common OD 15–50 mm with matched ID, lengths 800–1800 mm in RBSiC; SSiC long tubes up to ~3000 mm are available. We also produce collars/flanges and closed tips.

Type K, N, S, R, B are common. Select ID to allow element + insulation + thermal expansion clearance while minimizing lag.

Preheat gradually, avoid direct flame at the closed tip, maintain adequate insertion depth, and prevent cold drafts during removal. Use collars to isolate mechanical stress.

SiC has much higher thermal conductivity and better thermal shock resistance than alumina, providing faster response and longer life in harsh atmospheres. Alumina may be chosen for certain high-purity/insulating needs.

Yes. We offer ID/OD grinding and polishing, plus optional oxidation-resistant or acid/alkali-resistant coatings to extend life in specific chemistries.

Plain end with compression fittings, ceramic collars/flanges, or metal adaptors (kept out of the hot zone). Ensure proper sealing and thermal isolation per furnace design.
