Silicon Carbide Crucibles For Sale
Silicon carbide crucible is a high temperature refractory material, usually used for heating and melting various substances. It is made of silicon carbide (SiC) material, with excellent high temperature resistance, thermal shock stability, low expansion coefficient, good wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
Silicon carbide crucible is a ceramic bowl-shaped container with a deep bottom. When solids are to be heated with a high fire, a crucible must be used. Because it can withstand higher temperatures than glassware.
When using a crucible, the molten material is usually not too full to prevent the heated material from jumping out and to allow air to freely enter and exit for possible oxidation reactions. Because the bottom of the crucible is very small, it usually needs to be placed on a mud tripod to be heated directly by fire.

Features of SIC Crucibles
1.High Temperature Resistance: Silicon carbide crucibles withstand high temperatures, ideal for melting various high-temperature metals and ceramics.
2.Corrosion Resistance: They resist corrosion from most acidic and alkaline solutions.
3.Wear Resistance: With high hardness and excellent wear resistance, they have a long lifespan and can be reused multiple times.
4.Thermal Shock Resistance: Due to low thermal expansion and high thermal conductivity, they maintain stable performance under rapid temperature changes.
Silicon Carbide Crucible Uses
1.Metal Melting: Used for melting ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including steel, aluminum, copper, and gold, due to their high temperature resistance.
2.Ceramic and Glass Production: Ideal for melting and firing glass and ceramic materials at high temperatures.
3.Chemical Analysis: Used in laboratories for high-temperature chemical experiments, such as in the analysis of metals, minerals, and other substances.
4.Sintering and Powder Metallurgy: Utilized in sintering processes to heat ceramic powders or metal powders to form solid materials.
5.Lithium-ion Battery Materials: Employed in research and manufacturing of battery materials, including the heating and sintering of lithium compounds.
6.Laboratory Research: Used in various scientific experiments that require precise high-temperature conditions, including in metallurgy, material science, and physics.
FAQ
1) What metals are SiC crucibles best for?
2) What’s the maximum operating temperature?
3) Do you have gas-tight options?
4) How should I preheat a new crucible?
Dry-out at ~200 °C for about 2 hours, then ramp to ~950 °C before first charge; alternate guides suggest preheating to ~800 °C (bright red).
5) How do I estimate working capacity?
A common rule: Working capacity ≈ 90% × (Water-liter capacity × metal specific gravity). Always confirm with your alloy and pouring practice.
6) What sizes are available?
Standard “A” sizes and foundry models from ~10 lb Al capacity upward are common; custom SSiC sizes are available per drawing.
7) Are SiC crucibles compatible with heavy fluxes?
Yes, choose grades designed for arduous service and heavy flux usage (e.g., ISO SiC R).
8) How does SiC compare to graphite or clay-graphite?
SiC typically offers higher thermal conductivity and better erosion/thermal shock resistance, reducing energy and extending life in repeated cycles.
9) What about contamination risk?
SiC’s inert ceramic surface reduces contamination risk. Dense SSiC is preferred for high-purity melts and semiconductor/lab duties.
10) What information do you need for quoting?
Metal/alloy, target capacity (kg or lb), furnace type and dimensions, flux/chemistry, temperature, campaign length, any purity constraints, drawing if custom.
11) Do you supply lids, pouring spouts, or protective coatings?
